Clad — Last updated March 22, 2026
Summary
Clad processes your photos entirely on your device using on-device machine learning. We do not upload, store, or share your photos with any server. We collect minimal data necessary to provide the service. We do not sell your data to anyone.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Style Profile: Gender presentation, style vibe preference, and age range you optionally select during onboarding. Stored locally on your device.
- Display Name: An optional name you choose. Never shared externally.
- Outfit Photos: Photos you take or select for style scanning. These are processed entirely on-device and never uploaded to our servers.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Style Scores: The scores generated by the on-device AI analysis of your outfit photos. Stored locally and optionally synced via your personal iCloud account.
- Usage Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated data about which features are used (e.g., number of scans, onboarding completion). We use this to improve the app. This data cannot identify you personally.
- Subscription Status: Whether you have an active subscription, managed entirely through Apple's StoreKit framework.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your real name, email address, or phone number.
- We do not collect your location data.
- We do not access your full photo library — only photos you explicitly select.
- We do not use cookies or web tracking.
- We do not collect device identifiers for advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Outfit Analysis: Your photos are processed by on-device machine learning models (MobileNetV3, ResNet18, Apple Vision framework) to generate style scores. This happens entirely on your iPhone — no data is sent to any server.
- Personalization: Your style vibe and profile preferences are used to personalize scoring, shopping recommendations, and AI feedback. All processing is local.
- iCloud Sync: If enabled, your scores and profile sync across your devices via Apple's CloudKit using your personal iCloud account. We cannot access this data.
- Subscription Management: Handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. We receive only a confirmation of subscription status — no payment details.
- App Improvement: Anonymous usage patterns help us understand which features are most valuable.
3. On-Device Processing
All outfit analysis happens on your device. Clad uses Apple's Vision framework, Core ML models, and a custom fashion rules engine — all running locally on your iPhone's Neural Engine. Your photos are never uploaded to any server, cloud service, or third-party API.
The following processing occurs entirely on-device:
- Image classification via MobileNetV3 and ResNet18 CoreML models
- Body pose detection via Apple Vision (VNDetectHumanBodyPoseRequest)
- Person segmentation via Apple Vision (VNGeneratePersonSegmentationRequest)
- Color palette analysis via pixel sampling
- Pattern and texture detection
- 206-rule fashion scoring engine evaluation
- Shopping recommendation generation
4. Data Storage
4.1 Local Storage
All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes your profile, scan history, scores, and outfit photos. This data persists on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
4.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, your data may sync across your Apple devices via Apple's CloudKit. This sync uses your personal iCloud account and is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data. You can disable iCloud sync in your device's Settings.
4.3 No Server-Side Storage
Clad does not operate any backend servers. We do not store any user data on our systems. There is no database of user photos, scores, or profiles on our end.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties.
The only circumstances under which data leaves your device:
- Sharing: When you explicitly choose to share a score card via the system share sheet (e.g., to Messages, social media). You control what is shared and with whom.
- iCloud: If enabled, data syncs via your personal iCloud account (managed by Apple, not us).
- App Store: Apple collects standard App Store analytics (downloads, crashes) as described in Apple's privacy policy.
6. Third-Party Services
Apple Services
- StoreKit: Handles subscriptions. Apple processes payments — we never see your payment information.
- CloudKit: Optional iCloud sync. Data is encrypted and stored in your personal iCloud account.
- Vision Framework: On-device image analysis. No data sent to Apple.
- Core ML: On-device machine learning inference. No data sent to Apple.
No Third-Party Analytics or Advertising
Clad does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.), advertising SDKs, or tracking frameworks. We do not participate in any advertising networks.
7. Children's Privacy
Clad is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights and Choices
8.1 Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from within the app: Profile → Delete My Data. This immediately and permanently removes all scans, scores, and profile information from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, the deletion propagates across your devices.
8.2 Photo Access
You can revoke camera and photo library access at any time in iOS Settings → Clad. The app will continue to function with limited features.
8.3 Notifications
Push notifications are optional and can be disabled in iOS Settings → Clad → Notifications.
8.4 Subscription Management
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
9. Data Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device and optionally in your personal iCloud account, security is provided by:
- iOS device encryption (hardware-level)
- iOS app sandboxing (apps cannot access each other's data)
- iCloud encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Face ID / Touch ID device protection
10. International Users
Clad processes all data on your local device. No data is transferred internationally by us. If you use iCloud, Apple may store your data in data centers in various countries according to Apple's privacy policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of Clad after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
